About Mt. Vesuvius
65–70 days. Cherry-sized red fruit is pear-shaped with a pointed tip. Thick skin and firm interior. Can be eaten off the vine, or is commonly tied into a bunch that is hung up and stored for a long time. Flavor becomes more intense over storage time. Also called "piennolo del Vesuvio."
"Piennolo" means "hanging" in Neopolitan dialect.
About Tomato, Heirloom
These varieties have been cultivated around the world for decades or centuries. Heirloom tomatoes tend to be indeterminate (vining, ripening over time) and generally require support unless noted as determinate (bushier, ripening all at one time—good for canning and freezing). All are open-pollinated, meaning you can save seed from year to year. See also Tomato, Other.
