About Unryu
The variety name means “cloud dragon” and comes from its Japanese name, referring to a dragon's undulating form as it ascends. Prune to 8–15'h.
A friend in Japan tells us 雲龍, Unryu, means "cloud dragon," but the plant is called 雲龍柳 ,Unryuyanagi, “cloud dragon mulberry.” He added, the word or phrase “cloud dragon” is found in many contexts in Japan, China and Korea. When we think of Asian dragons, we are seeing the cloud dragon. The genetics of Morus are confusing and under study. Although this will likely be labeled Morus bombycis at the sale, it isn't since that species doesn't seem to exist.
