95 days. Clusters of small, slender, upright peppers in shades of green to orange to red. Grown for generations by one Mississippi family to season their traditional rooster pepper sausage, these peppers are also excellent dried and ground into chili powder. Suitable for containers. 30,000–50,000 SHU. Open-pollinated.

This pepper was briefly famous in the 1970s when President Carter was given some of the rooster pepper sausage and tried to get more with no success. Newspapers picked up on the story of the elusive and rare rooster spur pepper.
